Trip-Hop Pioneers Play To Sold-Out Berkeley Crowd
Two acts that helped shape the sound of the electronic music genre known as trip-hop shared the stage at UC Berkeley's Greek Theatre Friday night when UK giants Massive Attack were joined by popular local turntable phenom DJ Shadow. Though some fans were probably disappointed to learn that group founder Grant "Daddy G" Marshall was absent from the show (he was called back England for the birth of his child), Robert Del Naja aka 3D led the group through spirited renditions of songs from throughout Massive Attack's career that -- along with a spectacular light show -- kept the audience enthralled.
